Martain Pistorius
The short story about Martain Pistorius by the host Lulu Miller and Alex Spielgel takes place in a recording room during recording times. It tells the story of Martain Pistorius, a smart young man who wanted to become what he called an electric man. He must fight against Cryptococcal Meningitis, a very bad illness that he was diagnosed with it when he was 12 years old in order to achieve him becoming an eletric man. First, in the beginning of the story it was very as I should say not to happy but neither to sad. His parents where talking about how he was always building things as a little boy, always going to his mom and saying that one day he will call himself "eletric man." Then, when he turned 12 years old he started to become very tired and was always sleeping, as his parents say. He stopped building things because hour after hour he was just laying, sleeping in bed. After that, his parents took him to the doctor to see if anything was wrong with him, sure enough he was diagnosed with Cryptococcal Meningitis. There wasnt much the doctors can do but just wait until he died, there was basically no cure for this type of disease. Next, when he was diagnosed with this type of illness he started to get worse and worse. For example, he wasnt able to walk, talk, roll his eyes, he wasnt able to talk nor have even strength to get up from his bed or chair. After a while when everything just went down the drain his parents started taking him to Medical places to be taken care of while his parents go to work, they started putting him in bed, getting him dressed, and turning him every 2 hours so he wouldn't get bed sores, from staying in a position too long. Finally, after so many years of his parents taking care of him, he started gaining a little bit of strength on his fingers, he was also able to comprehend things much more easier. For example, to tell time he would use the sun also shadows. As the story is ending, Martain Pistorius starts gaining his confidence back then before, he got married to Johanna, his sisters best friend, at age 33 and got a job at an office. Sure Martain Pistorius has an illness that doesnt give you the strength to do things like other people but unlike Martain he never gave up of trying to get better. As the time went by little by little he didnt gain all of his strength back as when he was a little boy, but he sure got a little of it back.

Earth Day: Quote
I think the author placed this quote along with the text because it is a quote that talks about what kind of world you wanna be in, whether a nice, comfortable world or a world that we are all afraid of being in. I think this quote as a really good meaning that I probably won’t be able to type it out because it won’t make sense but I can try. What I think this quote means is that you live on this world, everyday that you live you do something to impact it whether in a good or bad way but its your decision to say how is this helping or maybe it wont even help. Everything you do always makes a difference on the world doing good or bad things that s why we have the right to decide what we wanna do because everything we all do will leave a mark with other and the world.
